Becoming Air

The sky was wide.

I mistook

its openness for danger.

One flight,

then another,

the sky opened.

Cloud after cloud,

the weight of air

grew lighter.

Becoming Air (2026)

Becoming Air is a photographic reflection on fear, vulnerability, and the quiet ways our perception shifts over time. What once felt immense and unknown gradually becomes less distant through encounters over time.

Birds appear throughout the series as subtle metaphors for trust, stillness and release. Suspended between earth and sky, their effortless movement through the air becomes a quiet reflection in letting go. Fleeting silhouettes, distant wings, and brief passages across open space are observed not as extraordinary moments, but as gentle reminders that change often happens almost imperceptibly. In following their flight, the sky is slowly reimagined not as a place to overcome, but as one to dwell within.
